1998.08 WJ's building dedication August 1998 : The occaision here was the naming of a building in honor of a great Bank of America banker, W J Smith.

W J came to BAC/NCNB in the mid 1980's and helped establish a solid base of credit administration in the bank.

W J was my favorite boss and he remains a dear friend.

1972 Bank of America - CLODS Program 1972 - 1990s : CLODS - the Comercial Loan Officers Development School - was one of my happiest assignments at Bank of America/NCNB. The program began in 1972, and I moved from Raleigh to start it. We ran over 50 6 to 9 week programs over the next few years and I remained in charge of it directly or indirectly through about 1984. Hundreds of BAC management people went through the program; variations of it continued on a much larger scale in line with growth in the bank until the recent slowdown in hiring young people.

By the way I at first wanted to change the name because of the acronym of "CLODS," but Chuck Cooley told me to lighten up and not be so serious. We then used the name for many years and some say it became a respected designation before politically correct wording was the norm.

The first pictures below are from one of the first groups relaxing in the famous War Room of the bank.

Notice the charts on the wall. They were updated by hand each month by a sweet little lady - no Power Point then.

1963 High Point Office of Bank of America : Began work at predecessor of Bank of America on 1/7/1963 in Greensboro NC. Temporary duty in High Point March to June and assigned there in July 1963. Remained in High Point until January 1969 and moved to Charlotte around the time daughter Sally was born 02/07/1969
