Here's one of my favorite stories. I was a 9 year old kid in love with football, and brother Smoke was at UNC during the Justice years. I asked Smoke if he could get me a signed picture of Charlie and a few weeks later he did - "best wishes to Don" it said with Charlie signing it. What a thrill - I knew then I only wanted to play football at UNC. I was so proud of the picture and wanted to frame it and put it in an appropriate place of honor. I looked around the house to try to find a frame to fit it as it was larger than the usual 81/2 x 11, and I found a frame with picture hanging at the top of the stairs which was just perfect. I removed the picture fromn the frame, put Charlie in, and hung the picture back - right there at the top of the stairs for all the world to see. What a thrill. Trouble was, Mom of course saw it and I thought she would have a fit as she told me to take that football player out of that frame and put back her picture of "Jesus Christ!" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . NOTICE - No Face mask, leather helmit (I used one in 8th grade and still think leather is better as it absorbs the hits),torn pants, belt with stick through buckle, high top black shoes, old cleats, long sleaves, and even then the usual cork soot under eyes.
